Northeast Community College is offering a Class B CDL training course in 56 hours! The course is ELDT (Entry Level Driver Training) compliant. Sixteen hours will be spent in the classroom. The Class B CDL training program prepares the entry-level students for the safe operation of Class B commercial vehicles. Students will receive instruction in basic operations, safe operating procedures, advanced operating practices, vehicle systems, and non-driving activities such as trip planning, environmental compliance, cargo handling, hours of service, and more. Hands-on training includes both range and public-road training in a Class B commercial vehicle, covering vehicle inspection, backing, shifting, speed and space management, and other critical driving skills. Not included in the cost of the course are the cost of the DOT drug screen, and CLP (Commercial Learner’s Permit) (no K restriction for out-of-state residence). Students must have their learner’s permit prior to registering for the class. A CASAS test will be provided, if necessary, through Adult Education. You will also need to get a DOT drug screen after you have acquired your CLP, but within 30 days of the start of the lab, and bring the results with you when you attend the lab portion of the class. The driving, vehicle inspection, and testing portion of the course will be completed in Norfolk or South Sioux City. The final drive test fee is included in the course. Requirements: Students must be 18 years of age, have a valid Nebraska driver’s license and a CLP to take this course (21 years of age if the student has a valid driver’s license and CLP from another state). Students are also cautioned that the physical requirements for a Commercial Driver License must be consistent with the standards of the United States Department of Transportation. Tuition does not include the cost of the license, clearinghouse fee, DOT drug screen, and CLP (no K restriction for out-of-state residents). The required drug/alcohol testing includes pre-admittance, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion testing. Click on Register to find more details about each class.
